Temporary, remote contracted – 4 months – 20 hours per week from August 15th to December 16th, 2023.

Must be available to work virtually daytime, evenings and Saturday mornings. Must have the ability to go to the WAFE office in Lynnwood, WA, occasionally.

Washington Family Engagement is nonprofit organization working to foster social transformation by supporting the development of multigenerational leaders from diverse backgrounds, so they become actively engaged in schools and communities in Washington State. WAFE has graduated 500+ adult and youth leaders from its signature programs: The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) and The Children’s Leadership Training Institute (CLTI). These programs teach civic and community engagement, leadership skills and help individuals have a voice in systems and public policy development.

Position description

We are seeking a personable, creative, dynamic communicator to coordinate and support students and facilitators of the Fall 2023, online Whatcom Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI). The ideal candidate must be bilingual (English-Spanish), have their own home computer, proficient using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and how to use Zoom.

Responsabilities

The Fall PLTI begins Saturday September 16th. Before the PLTI begins the coordinator will:

  • Help recruit and enroll PLTI participants by informing the community, school districts, partner organizations and social media channels about the upcoming online PLTI.
  • Manage the online PLTI registration process and create cohort enrollment data spreadsheets.
  • Contact participants who have registered to take the course to ensure they know the course requirements.
  • Organize, copy, and assemble PLTI classroom materials to be distributed to course participants.
  • Organize class material distribution locations and schedules.
  • Organize the class retreat in the beginning of the PLTI.
  • Participate in weekly Washington Family Engagement staff meetings.

    While the PLTI is in session:
  • Coordinate, communicate with, and assist PLTI course facilitators.
  • Work with facilitators to set planning session dates and times.
  • Attend all planning sessions with facilitators.
  • Attend weeknight and Saturday morning PLTI classes.
  • Maintain constant contact with PLTI participants by phone, weekly group emails and text.
  • Keep track of PLTI participant class attendance and inform PLTI Facilitators of absences and tardiness on a regular basis.
  • Maintain all Community Project documents, ensure all forms are completed in time frames set, and assist participants with any needs regarding their Community Projects. Including, but not limited to, helping participants refine their ideas, assisting in networking, and presenting projects to our Civic Design Team for input on projects.
  • Print graduation certificates and organize cohort gifts.
  • Coordinate and participate in the PLTI graduation. Graduation will take place online on Saturday December 16th 2023.

PLTI Virtual Facilitators

Do you have experience facilitating or presenting workshops? We are looking for interested persons to try out as PLTI co-facilitators during the virtual Spring PLTIs, which begin February 25th. Those accepted to this training will receive a $500 stipend to attend meetings and practice online cofacilitation. Please send an email of inquiry and your resume to April@wafamilyengagement.org. CLTI Virtual Co-facilitators

Do you have experience working with children ages 6 – 12 years of age? Would you like to learn how to facilitate children’s classes online? We are looking for CLTI facilitator trainees to try out in the virtual classroom during the Spring CLTI, which begins the first week of March. Those accepted to this training will receive a $500 stipend. Bilingual Spanish-English candidates are needed.
